This new home was built for an artist, his wife who is a food stylist, and their young son. The design was complicated by an extremely narrow lot (39 feet) and limited budget. Windows were located to provide light and views of the gardens without compromising privacy from the houses immediately adjacent. Through the center of the house is a 40 foot long band of high windows affording views of the sky and treetops from the living and dining rooms, and kitchen. Below these windows the ceiling framing is exposed with translucent panels, backlighting the rooms below. Solar panels provide hot water and radiant heating in the concrete floors.
